Today turned out to be a baking day. I made a banana bread, which lasted approx. 5 minutes since I had 5 kids here and I made red velvet cookies with cream cheese frosting. It felt good to spend a day in the kitchen! I had 3 girls and 2 boys running around along with 2 playful dogs, all of whom hovered around the oven. I love summer days!
These red velvet cookies are a recipe of one of my favorite bloggers I follow, The Southern Lady Cooks. She has some great recipes and y’all should follow her if you aren’t already! This is the link to her recipe that I used. http://thesouthernladycooks.com/2013/05/16/red-velvet-cookies-with-cream-cheese-frosting/
The only thing I did differently was I didn’t add nuts since my kids won’t eat anything that has nuts in it and I used my star cookie cutter since tomorrow is the 4th of July! They turned out fantastic and I am so glad I decided to make these, thank you Judy for a great recipe! These are easy to make and the kids love them, ok who am I kidding, my husband and I love them probably more!
1 box Red Velvet Cake Mix (I used Duncan Hines) 2 eggs 1/2 cup oil (I use Canola) 2 tablespoons milk 1 cup pecan pieces or nuts of your choice ( I didn’t use any) I’m going to make you go to thesouthernladycooks to get the directions:-) It’s so easy! Cream Cheese Filling 8 ounces cream cheese, softened 3 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened 1 3/4 cups powdered sugar 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

These look great! And so festive too!
